UNESCO, the World Heritage List and our Clann

By adding 139 funerary and memory sites of the First World War (Western Front) to the World Heritage List, UNESCO has further enshrined the heroic Clann members who sacrificed their lives during a war against oppression in Europe.

Not that our Clann was looking for any kind of validation in starting the WWI Honour Roll but the World Heritage Committee has decided to shine a new light on our collective duty of remembrance and we can only take pride in this decision. In Belgium alone, 14 of our 17 war deads are now buried or remembered in World Heritage sites. Their stories are still available on this website.

Finally, be sure that we are still determined to develop the Clann's WWI Honour Roll. We are currently planning on performing field surveys in France where - at least - 32 Clann members were laid to rest in order to bring their stories to the world.
